Beginning Polymer Clay Bead Making with Pamela Troutman

Class Fee: $10 paid to the instructor

Come play with clay! Pam Troutman will bring her polymer clay, tools, and oven and we will make beads. Round, oval, edged, square, barrel, pattern, etc. – whatever shape you want! She even has some pre-made canes and textures for decorations. Once baked, they will be ready for your jewelry making.

If you have any polymer tools (awl, tissue blade, etc.) or want to use fresh clay*, please buy/bring them! We will just have fun.

*Polymer clay does not go “bad” but it can get harder to work as it ages. Older clay is great for beads because it holds its shape (firmer) than fresh clay. You will be using your hands and the table to condition and shape the clay for this class. If you have concerns that your hands may not enjoy harder clay, then please consider buying new clay. Sculpty is the better brand, and look at the copyright date on the package for newer clay.


Bio:
Pam Troutman grew up an artist. Her college degree is in studio art and she started beading in 2000, making beaded lanyards for coworker’s ID Badges. Her bead creations are all unique and have won awards in several Virginia and NM venues. She sells her items in galleries, presently at Amapola in Old Town Albuquerque, as well as in her Etsy shop, StarArtJewelry. Pam moved to Rio Rancho, NM in June 2017 and immediately joined the BSNM and is active as a member of the BSNM board. Pam likes to teach process classes, letting class members learn how to design and make their own creations in bead embroidery, weaving, kumihimo, and polymer clay.
